Remote Executive Assistant to CEO Full Time

About This Opportunity

Automattic is looking for a remote Executive Assistant to support CEO Matt Mullenweg.

This is not a traditional Executive Assistant position. Instead of simply managing calendars and completing tasks, you’ll act as a trusted operational partner who helps keep priorities organized, removes obstacles, and makes sure important things move forward.

At Automattic, this role is called a Wrangler – someone who helps manage complexity, anticipates problems, and creates order behind the scenes.

You’ll work closely with Matt and the Wranglers team to coordinate priorities, manage logistics, solve unexpected challenges, and improve the way work gets done inside a global remote company.

The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, highly organized, comfortable with ambiguity, and enjoys being the person who helps others perform at their best.

What You Will Be Doing

• Partner with the CEO and Wranglers team to keep priorities moving forward.
• Manage calendars, communications, meetings, travel arrangements, and important logistics.
• Help protect focus time by prioritizing requests and reducing unnecessary distractions.
• Anticipate problems and solve issues before they become bigger challenges.
• Coordinate with executives, board members, partners, and other stakeholders worldwide.
• Research topics, prepare meeting materials, and ensure important details are handled.
• Track follow-ups and make sure commitments don’t get lost.
• Improve workflows, organize information, and create better systems for efficiency.
• Support last-minute changes and unexpected situations with good judgment.
• Experiment with new tools, including AI and automation, to improve productivity.

• Salary range: $95,000 – $195,000 USD/year (based on experience and impact)
