Chainlink Labs is hiring a remote Junior Data Engineer, Economics to join its Economics team, working at the intersection of blockchain systems, financial markets, and decentralized economic design.

This role focuses on building data infrastructure and production-grade economic systems that help design, simulate, and optimize incentive mechanisms that power the Chainlink network.

You will help transform complex economic models into real-world systems that influence decision-making across Economics, Engineering, Product, and Executive teams.

What You Will Do

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure for economic decision-making
• Develop and support production economics applications and models
• Design and analyse incentive systems and economic mechanisms
• Build simulations and models to evaluate investment and network design decisions
• Optimise parameters for production economic systems
• Support the design and execution of token economics and incentive programs
• Collaborate with Economics, Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams
• Operationalise complex economic processes into production workflows

Requirements

• Strong understanding of financial markets and crypto economics
• Strong foundation in Computer Science (data structures, algorithms, complexity)
• Experience building data infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Strong skills in SQL and Python (required)
• Experience with production-grade engineering practices (git, testing, CI/CD, containers, IaC)
• Experience in data analysis or data science work
• High attention to detail and ability to work with complex systems

Preferred Experience

• Background in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or Engineering (Master’s or equivalent experience)
• Experience with DeFi and blockchain ecosystems
• Familiarity with data orchestration tools (Airflow, DBT)
• Experience with data warehousing and data modelling concepts
• Exposure to LLM tools and onchain data systems
• Published research in crypto economics, tokenomics, or mechanism design
