About This Opportunity

Exchange Life is looking for a Freelance Expert Short-Form Video Editor to join its remote content team and create high-performing videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and paid social campaigns.

Exchange Life is a growing e-commerce travel jewelry brand that creates collectible country charms for travelers.

The company works with a global team of editors, creators, and filmmakers to produce content that connects with customers and drives growth.

This role is ideal for a creative editor who understands that successful short-form content is not only about visual quality – it is about storytelling, audience retention, testing, and performance.

You will work closely with the Content Lead and Marketing team to create, analyze, and improve videos that perform across organic and advertising channels.

What You Will Be Doing

• Edit short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and paid advertising campaigns.
• Create content focused on strong hooks, viewer retention, and engagement.
• Analyze previous edits to understand what works and continuously improve creative output.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to test new creative ideas and improve winning formats.
• Stay updated on social media trends and apply relevant editing styles and techniques.
• Deliver content efficiently while working independently in a fast-moving remote environment.
• Use performance insights and audience data to improve future content.

Requirements:

• Strong portfolio of recent short-form video edits (ideally 20+ examples from recent months).
• Ability to analyze successful videos and understand why they performed well.
• Experience editing different content formats, including talking-head videos, voiceovers, AI-generated videos, and promotional content.
• Understanding of key video performance metrics such as hook rate, retention, and watch time.
• Ability to use analytics data to improve editing decisions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to apply feedback.
• Advanced skills with CapCut Pro or similar video editing tools.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workflow.
• Nice to have:
  Experience creating video content for e-commerce brands.
  Experience understanding paid advertising performance and creative testing.
  Familiarity with TikTok and Meta advertising platforms.

Not a Good Fit If:

• Your experience is mainly focused on long-form videos, YouTube content, or event/wedding videos.
• You cannot explain why certain videos or ads perform well.
• You require close supervision or a fixed schedule to stay productive.
• You are looking for a short-term project rather than a long-term collaboration.
