About This Opportunity
Imagine Worldwide is seeking a highly experienced Director of Supply Chain Operations to lead and optimize supply chain systems supporting tablet-based educational programs across Africa.
This role will focus on building sustainable and scalable in-country supply chain operations that ensure educational devices reach learners efficiently, remain operational, and are properly maintained throughout their lifecycle.
The Director will collaborate closely with country logistics teams, governments, and external partners to design forward and reverse logistics systems, optimize distribution networks, improve inventory management, and strengthen repair and e-waste management strategies.

What You Will Do
- Regional Supply Chain Architecture
Develop and optimize in-country supply chain systems across multiple African countries
Conduct geospatial mapping and analysis to improve route planning and warehouse placement
Design strategies for warehouse and repair center locations
Develop transportation and distribution strategies for asset deployment and replacement
Lead cost-benefit analyses for last-mile distribution solutions - Distribution, Repairs & Maintenance Logistics
Build efficient forward and reverse logistics processes for deployments, returns, and end-of-life management
Develop scalable repair, maintenance, and replacement strategies
Implement data-driven route planning for maintenance and service visits
Support country teams in managing spare parts and turnaround times - Inventory Tracking, Safety & Risk Management
Research and establish health, safety, and security standards for storage and distribution
Develop strategies to reduce theft, loss, and operational risks
Recommend and implement asset tracking technologies such as RFID, GPS, or NFC systems
Improve inventory tracking systems and reporting processes
Coordinate risk assessments related to fire safety, electrical safety, and operational hazards - Local Capacity Building & E-Waste Management
Research and adapt global standards for electronic repairs, recycling, and disposal
Collaborate with governments and partners to strengthen local repair ecosystems
Develop frameworks and standards for repair and e-waste management partnerships
Support technician and vendor certification processes - Data-Driven Leadership & Team Development
Improve visibility and accountability through data-driven supply chain operations
Develop SOPs, templates, training materials, and operational documentation
Build data fluency and reporting capabilities across supply chain teams
Promote collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
What They’re Looking For
- Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Field Operations, or a related field
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain operations, or field operations
- At least 5 years of senior-level experience in supply chain architecture
- Strong experience managing inventory, distribution, reverse logistics, and asset lifecycle management
- Experience operating in low-resource or high-complexity environments
- Strong understanding of repair operations and maintenance logistics
- Experience building data-driven operational cultures
- Experience working with remote or distributed international teams
- Nonprofit or social impact sector experience is an advantage
Work Model
- Full-time remote role based anywhere in Africa
- Requires reliable internet access and collaboration across African, US, and UK teams
- Quarterly international travel required for team meetings, field visits, and training
- Home-based position with global collaboration responsibilities
