About This Opportunity

Automattic is looking for a Technical Account Manager (TAM) to join its Special Projects team and support partners across the full lifecycle of their WordPress-based websites.

In this role, you’ll work closely with clients, developers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality website solutions, resolve technical issues, and ensure a seamless partner experience.

You’ll also act as the bridge between customers and product teams, helping shape improvements across Automattic’s ecosystem.

What You Will Do

• Support partner onboarding and long-term success with WordPress products
• Manage and resolve partner requests with precision and efficiency
• Collaborate with clients to define website functionality and requirements
• Lead website launches, migrations, and integrations (DNS, domains, data)
• Work hands-on with WordPress, WooCommerce, Jetpack, and MailPoet
• Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with engineering teams
• Translate partner needs into clear technical tasks and deliverables
• Act as the “voice of the customer” and share product feedback
• Handle urgent incidents and ensure high-quality site performance
• Improve processes and contribute to team knowledge sharing

Requirements

• Advanced experience with WordPress (themes, plugins, site editor)
• Strong understanding of web technologies (DNS, SEO, performance, accessibility)
• Experience with WooCommerce and eCommerce setups
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English
• Strong problem-solving and project management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
• Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with using AI tools to improve productivity
• Nice to have
  Experience contributing to open-source projects
  Experience managing or running a WooCommerce store
  Familiarity with tools like Linear
  Interest in customer experience and service excellence

What You Get

• $85,000 – $130,000 USD (paid in local currency globally)
