Remote Head of Product Design Full Time
About This Opportunity
n8n is looking for an experienced Head of Product Design to lead and grow its Product Design organization while helping shape the future of its AI-powered workflow automation platform.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on design direction.
You’ll work closely with executive leadership, Product, and Engineering to improve the overall user experience, establish high design standards, and help make a technically powerful platform more accessible to a broader audience without sacrificing the flexibility that existing users rely on.
You’ll oversee a growing design organization, strengthen design operations, introduce scalable research practices, and ensure design plays a key role in product strategy and business decisions.

What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and mentor a team of Design Leads, Product Designers, Design Engineering, and UX Research.
- Establish and maintain a high standard for design quality across products.
- Develop design review processes, feedback practices, and quality assurance standards.
- Continue improving and scaling the company’s design system.
- Help simplify complex user experiences while preserving advanced functionality for experienced users.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to influence product strategy from the earliest planning stages.
- Drive design decisions that support company growth and expansion into new user segments.
- Define career frameworks, performance expectations, hiring plans, and team development.
- Build a continuous UX research practice using customer feedback, analytics, and user insights.
- Use research to improve activation, onboarding, adoption, retention, and overall customer experience.
- Encourage practical adoption of AI tools within the design organization to improve workflows, prototyping, research, and collaboration.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and thoughtful experimentation.
What They’re Looking For
- Significant experience leading Product Design teams, including managing design managers and senior designers.
- Proven background designing complex software products or developer-focused platforms.
- Strong expertise in UX, product design, and maintaining high design quality.
- Experience influencing product strategy alongside executive leadership.
- Ability to solve complex problems in fast-changing environments with limited direction.
- Good understanding of AI products, automation tools, or similar technology.
- Experience integrating UX research into product development.
- Comfortable making data-informed design decisions using analytics, research, and customer insights.
- Experience building team structures, career paths, and performance management processes.
- Nice to have:
Experience working on open-source or community-driven products.
Knowledge of front-end development or design engineering.
Experience leading fully remote design teams.
Background improving onboarding, activation, product-led growth, or user adoption.
Ready to step into a first Head of Design position after excelling as a Design Manager.
