About This Opportunity

OneSeven Tech is hiring a remote Data Engineer-Ssr-Sr to build and manage cloud-native data infrastructure powering AI-driven products.

In this role, you’ll own end-to-end data pipeline development, working across AWS, Terraform, and Pinecone to support scalable, production-grade systems.

You’ll design and maintain infrastructure for ingestion, transformation, and vector search, while collaborating with engineering and applied science teams in a high-ownership environment.

This is a remote, full-time contract role with strong technical impact and growth potential.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines across AWS services (Lambda, S3, ECS, SQS)
• Manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform across environments
• Build and optimize vector search workflows in Pinecone
• Develop MCP integrations using FastMCP SDK
• Implement authentication flows using AWS Cognito and Secrets Manager
• Monitor system performance and pipeline health via CloudWatch
• Apply cost optimization strategies across data and AI workflows
• Collaborate with engineering and applied science teams

Requirements

• Strong Python experience (data pipelines, APIs, scripting)
• Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, SQS, etc.)
• Experience with Terraform (multi-environment infrastructure management)
• Docker experience (containerization and deployment)
• Experience with Pinecone (vector search, indexing, multi-tenancy)
• Understanding of embeddings and ETL/data pipelines
• Experience with MCP protocol and API integrations
• Git/GitHub workflow experience
• Strong understanding of error handling and retry patterns
• Clear English communication and ability to work independently
• Nice to have:
  Incremental pipeline updates and optimization strategies
  CloudWatch dashboards and monitoring improvements
  Deduplication strategies for embeddings
  Lambda performance tuning
  VPN configuration experience
  LangChain / LangGraph experience
  Prompt engineering knowledge
  GitHub Actions for CI/CD
  Marketing/business understanding
