Chess.com is looking for a creative and highly skilled Video Editor to produce engaging short-form and long-form video content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other digital platforms.

This role combines advanced editing expertise, storytelling ability, and deep understanding of social media trends to create compelling content for the global chess audience.

The ideal candidate understands internet culture, viral content, and the chess community, while also bringing strong technical abilities in video editing, motion graphics, visual effects, and content optimization.

This is a fully remote role working closely with content, production, and creative teams in a fast-paced digital media environment.

What You Will Do

• Edit and assemble raw footage into polished short-form and long-form videos
• Create engaging content optimized for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and social media platforms
• Apply motion graphics, transitions, effects, color correction, audio mixing, and graphic overlays
• Identify compelling storylines, highlights, and viral moments from tournaments and streams
• Research and implement current social media and editing trends
• Analyze video performance metrics to improve audience engagement and retention
• Maintain consistent visual quality and alignment with Chess.com brand standards
• Manage multiple editing projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Collaborate with creative and content teams in a remote environment
• Remain flexible with schedules, including occasional off-hours and weekends

What They’re Looking For

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Blender, and Cinema 4D
• Strong storytelling, pacing, and narrative editing skills
• Deep understanding of YouTube optimization and social media content strategy
• Knowledge of internet culture, memes, and viral video trends
• Strong understanding of chess rules, terminology, notation, and chess culture
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment
• Excellent project management and multitasking abilities
   
• Preferred Qualifications:
  Professional experience editing chess, esports, gaming, or sports content
  Experience creating viral or highly engaging social media videos
  Strong motion graphics and VFX skills
  Experience working with creators, streamers, or tournament productions
