About This Opportunity
Pearson is looking for an Advanced Specialist in Payroll to support complex U.S. payroll operations within its global Corporate Human Resources function.
This is a senior, hands-on role where you will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across multi-state and multi-entity payroll environments.
You will work closely with HR, Finance, Tax, IT, and external vendors to resolve issues, reduce risk, and improve payroll processes at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as a senior payroll expert for U.S. payroll operations
- Manage complex payroll scenarios including multi-state and high-volume employee groups
- Ensure compliance with U.S. tax, wage, and labor regulations
- Partner with HR, Finance, Tax, IT, and external vendors to resolve escalations
- Identify payroll risks and drive process improvements
- Support audits, year-end activities, and compliance reviews
- Contribute to documentation, controls, and payroll process standardization
- Support system and data initiatives with HRIS and payroll teams
Requirements
- 5+ years of U.S. payroll experience
- Experience with multi-state and complex payroll environments
- Strong understanding of U.S. payroll tax and wage/hour regulations
- Experience working with large, hourly, or seasonal workforces
- Ability to work independently in a global, distributed environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and compliance focus
- Nice to have
Experience with Oracle, SAP, ADP GlobalView, or Oracle Fusion
Exposure to Canadian payroll
Experience in payroll transformation or system implementation
CPP or FPC certification
