Remote Full-Stack AI Engineer Full Time
About This Opportunity
Katapult Labs is hiring a remote Full-Stack AI Engineer to join a fast-growing fintech company building an AI-driven platform for transactional workflows.
You’ll play a high-ownership role in shaping the technical architecture, combining AI/LLM capabilities with reliable, deterministic systems for document processing, verification, compliance, and fraud detection.
What You Will Be Doing
Lead architecture decisions as the platform evolves into an AI-enabled system
Design and build pipelines for document staging, validation, third-party verification, and fraud detection
Determine where LLMs provide value and where deterministic rules are more reliable, cost-effective, and auditable
Build AI verification and evaluation pipelines with strong safeguards against hallucinations
Work with document extraction, validation rules, and third-party data integrations
Design the platform so future modules can be added without major rework
Help lay the technical foundation for SOC 2 compliance
Work closely with a small, senior engineering team
Ship independently and move quickly from ideas to production
What We’re Looking For
6+ years of experience as a senior or staff-level software engineer
Proven experience owning architecture in a growing startup
Advanced, conversational English for direct daily communication with a US-based executive team
Experience building systems that combine AI/LLM components with deterministic, rule-based logic
Hands-on experience with AI verification, evaluation pipelines, and techniques for reducing hallucination risk
Experience with document-heavy workflows, including extraction and validation
Experience integrating third-party data sources
Strong experience with modern technologies such as Vercel and Supabase, or equivalent platforms
Experience working in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments such as fintech or healthtech is a strong plus
Comfortable working with high autonomy, fast iteration, and direct communication with technical and executive stakeholders
Nice to Have
Experience preparing a platform for SOC 2 certification
Experience building fraud detection systems
Experience in lending, capital markets, or structured finance technology
