About This Opportunity

Ghost is building independent, open-source publishing software used by tens of thousands of websites worldwide.

As a remote Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll focus on developer tooling, automation, and platform infrastructure- supporting internal teams, open-source contributors, self-hosted users, and AI agents.

This is a product-focused engineering role where the “users” are developers.

Your goal is to make building, deploying, and integrating with Ghost faster, smoother, and more reliable.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain internal developer platforms with self-service tooling and workflows
• Own CI/CD pipelines, ensuring fast, reliable, and standardized builds and deployments
• Improve developer experience, including local environments, contributor tooling, and extension workflows
• Maintain and enhance the self-hosted experience (Docker, installation, configuration, upgrades)
• Design and support tooling and interfaces for AI agent interaction (e.g., MCP, CLI tools)
• Build internal tools, automation, dashboards, and workflows to reduce repetitive work
• Embed security practices into platform workflows (dependency scanning, secrets, access control)
• Treat the platform as a product by gathering feedback, tracking adoption, and iterating

Requirements

• Platform-as-product mindset with focus on usability and adoption
• Strong software engineering skills with Node.js/TypeScript
• Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions)
• Understanding of API design, documentation, and versioning
• Experience working with open-source projects and communities
• Strong experience with Docker and software distribution across environments
• Security awareness (secrets management, access control, vulnerability management)
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Nice to have
  Experience building internal developer platforms or developer portals
  Familiarity with AI coding tools and AI agent workflows
  Experience with MCP or similar AI integration protocols
  Background in Node.js/TypeScript ecosystems
  Experience supporting self-hosted open-source products at scale
