Muddy Mat is hiring for a remote Controller to lead its finance and accounting function, including the transition to accrual accounting, migration from QuickBooks Online to NetSuite, audit preparation, financial reporting, and the development of scalable financial processes.

What You Will Do
Lead the transition from cash-basis to accrual accounting
Restate historical financials and rebuild the chart of accounts
Lead the migration from QuickBooks Online to NetSuite
Work with the external NetSuite implementation consultant to ensure the system is configured correctly
Lead pre-audit book cleanup in coordination with BDO
Own the formal audit process from preparation through completion
Manage month-end and year-end close
Ensure accurate and timely financial statements
Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Build and maintain strong internal controls
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the CEO and leadership team
Identify and implement processes that improve and scale the finance function
Required
Demonstrated recent experience transitioning a company from cash-basis to accrual accounting
Hands-on NetSuite experience; migration or implementation experience strongly preferred
Experience working directly with an external audit firm on audit preparation and execution
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
At least 2 years in a Controller or senior accounting role
CPA designation or local equivalent strongly preferred
Deep knowledge of US GAAP
Strongly Preferred
Big 4 experience in audit or tax, particularly with Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG
Experience working with companies in the Philippines, Latin America, or Eastern Europe
eCommerce, DTC, or consumer products experience
Experience with multi-channel revenue recognition
Experience migrating from QuickBooks Online to an ERP system
