Duolingo is hiring an Urdu Localization Translator (Contract) to help deliver high-quality translations and localized content for Urdu-speaking users.

In this role, you’ll translate and adapt product and marketing content to ensure it is accurate, culturally relevant, and aligned with Duolingo’s tone and style.

You’ll also collaborate with team members on language consistency, contribute to style guides, and perform quality checks to improve the overall user experience.

This is a flexible, part-time contract role ideal for experienced translators with a strong understanding of localization and digital products.

Responsibilities

• Translate and localize product and marketing content into Urdu
• Ensure translations are accurate, engaging, and aligned with brand tone
• Collaborate with team members on language consistency and terminology
• Contribute to Urdu style guides and localization standards
• Perform QA checks within the app to ensure quality and clarity
• Review and improve translated content for cultural relevance
• Evaluate text-to-speech (TTS) quality and provide feedback
• Help refine AI-generated (LLM) outputs for accuracy and tone

Requirements

• Native fluency in Urdu and professional fluency in English
• 3+ years of experience in translation, localization, or proofreading
• Experience localizing digital products (apps, web, or games)
• Strong attention to linguistic detail and cultural nuance
• Ability to review and improve content quality across formats
• Portfolio demonstrating translation/localization work
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Nice to have:
  Experience with TTS evaluation and language quality review
  Experience working with AI/LLM-generated content
  Background in copywriting or transcreation
  Familiarity with localization style guides and processes
  Interest in education or language-learning products
