Wise is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its Global Payroll team for a 12-month contract based in Budapest.

This role focuses on managing payroll operations across EMEA, with a strong emphasis on UK payroll.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while supporting global payroll operations, audits, and process improvements.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external providers to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and service, contributing to a growing global finance function.

Responsabilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time across EMEA regions, with a focus on the UK
• Prepare, review, and validate payroll inputs, ensuring compliance with deadlines
• Coordinate with third-party payroll providers for timely submissions
• Maintain payroll records, documentation, and historical data
• Support payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting (journals, GL, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws and payroll regulations
• Monitor and respond to regulatory updates impacting payroll processes
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve payroll processes and efficiency
• Assist with system support (e.g., CloudPay, Workday) and troubleshooting
• Contribute to global payroll projects and process optimization initiatives

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in EMEA/UK payroll processing
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and reporting
• Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS tools
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, data analysis)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments
• Niche to have:
  Experience with CloudPay or Workday
  Additional European language skills
  Experience in high-growth or international companies
  Exposure to payroll audits and global payroll operations
