About This Opportunity

Canonical is hiring an remote Ubuntu Pro Sales Engineer Entry- Level to help global companies adopt the latest Linux and open source applications.

The role is part of the global Field Engineering team and works closely with enterprise sales leads.

The team applies technical expertise to real-world customer problems, supporting enterprise adoption of Ubuntu Pro, OpenStack, Canonical Microcloud, Kubernetes, and related technologies.

This role is particularly suited to candidates with a technical background who are business-minded and driven by commercial success. It offers the opportunity to develop business technology knowledge while working with customers across different industries.

Canonical is growing teams across EMEA, Americas, and APAC time zones and can accommodate candidates from almost any country.

Responsibilities

Collect customer business requirements and advise them on Ubuntu and relevant open source applications
Identify customer challenges with open source and explain how Ubuntu Pro could help solve them
Deliver presentations and demonstrations of Ubuntu Pro to prospective and current clients
Liaise with product teams to provide feedback on customer requirements and influence the product roadmap
Work collaboratively with the sales team to reach shared targets
Travel globally up to 25% of the time for internal and external events and 25% for customer meetings

Requirements

Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path
Confidence to speak up respectfully, exchange feedback, and share ideas
Track record of going above and beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results
Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and development
Practical knowledge of Linux, virtualisation, containers, and networking
Business-minded technology thinker and problem solver
Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and platforms such as Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and GCP
Interest in large-scale enterprise open source, including private clouds, machine learning and AI, data, and analytics
Intermediate Python programming skills
Passion for technology demonstrated through personal projects and initiatives
Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
Experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
Ability to take on new projects and interact with people
Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural, and multinational organisation
Thoughtfulness and self-motivation
Results-oriented approach with a personal drive to follow up and meet commitments
Ability to travel internationally for company events of up to two weeks and for customer or industry meetings
