Why Work for a Virtual Assistant Agency? And How to Get Hired.

Today, let’s learn how, when, and why Virtual Assistants should work for a Virtual Assistant Agency.

Meet Dijana, Co-Founder of a Virtual Assistant Agency.

This month’s spotlight is on Dijana Peshevska.

Co-founder of Instant Assistance LLC a VA Agency that helps business owners – especially Real Estate agents – who are handling too many tasks on their own.

With her team, she helps match, onboard, and train virtual assistants properly, so clients feel supported from the start.

Their work at the Agency is all about creating structure, saving time, and making sure the business can run without the owner being involved in every detail.

At SkillSpotterZ, we spotlight creative minds to help companies and remote talent grow together – sharing real talk and practical insights from inside the industry.

💬 What’s the story behind InstantAssistance? How did it start, and how is it helping Virtual Assistants today?

My sister is a real estate agent, and I began helping her and another agent in her office.

That’s when we really saw how overwhelmed business owners were and how much support they needed – and that’s where the idea came from.

We started by helping with basic support, but it quickly grew into something bigger.

Today, Instant Assistance helps virtual assistants by providing real structure, ongoing training, and long-term placements.

We invest in our assistants just as much as we do our clients, because when VAs feel confident, supported, and set up for success, everyone wins.

💬 Many freelancers start out on their own. Why might joining a VA agency be a smart choice instead of going fully independent?

You have built-in support, protection, and structure, along with consistent opportunities to work with clients.

It allows you to focus on doing great work while growing within a team.

💬 What are the main advantages of working for a VA agency that freelancers might not expect?

Ongoing training, clear expectations, and a team that has your back.

A lot of VAs don’t expect how much easier it is to grow when systems and support are already in place.

💬 From your experience, what qualities or traits make a freelancer a good fit for an agency environment?

Being proactive, open to feedback, reliable, and willing to learn are key.

Skills matter, but attitude and communication matter just as much.

Freelancers who think like partners, not just task-doers, tend to do really well in an agency environment.

💬 How important is it for applicants to have a niche or specialized skill set versus being more of a generalist?

Both can work.

Generalists are great starting out, and specialized skills can help you grow faster.

What matters most is being strong in your core skills and open to learning.

💬 What’s the application process like at your agency? How can someone make a strong first impression?

Being prepared, communicating confidently, and showing genuine curiosity about the role and long-term growth make a strong impression.

When someone is intentional and sees the opportunity as more than just a short-term role, it definitely stands out.

💬 Do you look more at experience or attitude when hiring new VAs, and why?

Attitude, every time.

Skills can be taught, but things like reliability, work ethic, and willingness to grow are much harder to develop if they’re not already there.

💬 What are some common mistakes freelancers make when trying to get hired by an agency?

Overpromising, or treating it too casually.

Agencies look for professionalism and consistency.

💬 For someone who’s new to virtual assistance, what can they do to increase their chances of getting hired by your agency?

Invest time in understanding the role, be coachable, and show initiative.

Even without experience, effort and preparation go a long way.

💬 Once hired, how does onboarding and training work at an agency? What should new VAs expect?

New VAs can expect structured training, clear expectations, and ongoing support.

There’s guidance and practice built in, so they have time to learn, build confidence, and get comfortable before fully stepping into client work.

💬 For international freelancers, what should they know about working with a U.S.-based agency?

For international freelancers, it’s important to be comfortable working U.S. hours and navigating different time zones.

Having awareness of U.S. work culture and expectations makes collaboration much easier.

💬 How do you assign clients or projects? Can VAs choose their projects, or is it more structured?

It’s structured around skills, availability, and fit.

The goal is long-term success for both the VA and the client.

💬 If you could give one piece of advice to someone debating whether to start working with a VA agency or go solo, what would it be?

If you want support, growth, and stability, an agency can help you get there faster – and you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

💜 Dijana, what’s one lesson, mindset, or mantra you keep coming back to?

My sister and I joke about this all the time, but whenever something feels scary or bigger than us, we usually take that as a sign we’re on the right track.
