Meet Milan & The B2B Mindset
Milan Savov is the Founder of SmartClick, a remote-first SEO and Website Development agency that helps B2B companies across the globe reach the first page of Google through integrated digital strategies.
In this interview, he shares insights on what it takes to win in the B2B marketing space — from SEO trends and content strategies to outsourcing, remote hiring, and the future of digital talent.
At SkillSpotterZ, we spotlight creative minds like Milan, in order to help Companies and Remote Talent grow together, and hear real talk and insights about the industry.
So, let’s dive into Milan’s perspective…
💬 Who is Milan — both professionally and personally? Does work life influence your life outside of work, or do you keep those worlds separate?
I’m just a regular guy who loves what he does.
I never really saw SmartClick as “work.”
It’s something I genuinely enjoy doing.
Most of the people I collaborate with have become close friends.
And vice versa, some of my friends became clients or business partners.
For me, there is no clean line between work and life.
That separation doesn’t exist, and I don’t think it ever did. It’s all one thing.
💬 You are the Founder of SmartClick, a B2B Marketing SEO agency. What’s one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you started SmartClick — that today’s marketers should take seriously?
Figure out your mission and who you want to work with.
Make that clear from the start. You can’t do this alone, so focus on building the right team around you.
Also, pick your niche early. The sooner you do that, the sooner people will start seeing you as the go-to person in that space.
💬 What made you niche down only to B2B Marketing, why not target all Industries?
If you try to do everything for everyone, you’re not really helping anyone.
We want to be really good at one thing, not mediocre at ten.
That’s why we focus on B2B, and even more specifically B2B SaaS.
The deeper you go into one space, the better you understand the people in it – what they’re stuck on, what they care about, and how to help them.
💬 What unique challenges does B2B present that you enjoy solving — and how do those differ from B2C?
We often work with companies that don’t have a system for generating leads consistently.
So instead of them building a whole team from scratch, we come in as an extension of their marketing department.
We build those systems. B2B or B2C, it doesn’t matter, you’re still talking to people. You still need to earn their trust.
The State of B2B Marketing — and Where It’s Headed
💬 Do you feel Macedonia has caught up to international Marketing standards — and are we ready to remotely support global companies with Marketing Services?
We have the talent. That’s not a question.
But we still experience tech adoption a bit later than some other countries. The bigger gap, though, is cultural.
The more we learn about how people communicate abroad, the better we can work with them.
At the end of the day, it’s a personal decision. If someone wants to keep up, they will. If they don’t, they’ll just keep blaming geography.
💬 Are all marketing trends working for all cultures and regions?
No. Every country and culture is different.
If you want your strategy to work, you need to understand the people you’re talking to. That’s the only way.
💬 What marketing channels or trends do you believe are underrated right now but will become essential in the near future?
Everyone’s talking about AI and automation, but one of the most underrated channels right now is organic search in non-Google environments.
Think: YouTube, Reddit, even TikTok.
These are massive search engines with different rules and they’re where younger audiences are searching first.
Most brands are still thinking “Google-first.” That’s short-sighted.
Second: branded search.
Not just ranking—but shaping how you show up. Reviews, mentions, affiliate content, even forums.
Controlling the narrative around your brand in organic search will become a must-have—not a nice-to-have.
SEO is evolving. It’s less about chasing keywords, and more about being discoverable wherever your audience searches.
💬 What’s the biggest myth about B2B marketing today?
That SEO is dead. People have been saying that for 20 years.
It’s not. What has changed is how people search and how results are displayed.
Companies need to adapt how they present themselves. That’s it.
Social Media, SEO & Content in 2025
💬 What recent changes in social media are affecting B2B marketing, and how should businesses adapt?
Short videos. That’s it.
People don’t have the patience for long-form content unless they already trust you.
The challenge is making something short that people actually want to watch.
If you can do that, they’ll keep coming back.
💬 What are the best social platforms for B2B businesses?
Depends on your business. For us, it’s LinkedIn.
That’s where our audience ”lives”. Everything you create should be reusable.
If you record a podcast or video, break it down into short clips for social media.
Pull quotes or insights and turn those into LinkedIn posts or tweets.
Take the highlights and put them in a newsletter.
Don’t start from scratch every time. Start from one strong piece and build out.
💬 How do you see the role of content evolving in B2B marketing? What type of content truly moves the needle for conversions today?
Content that solves a real problem.
That’s it. Keep it short, relevant, and based on what the reader actually needs. And meet them where they are.
Someone in the awareness stage needs different content than someone who’s about to make a buying decision.
💬SEO has changed a lot with AI, search algorithm updates, and content saturation.
What are the most important SEO practices freelancers and agencies should focus on in 2025 and beyond?
Focus on quality. Make your content useful and easy to understand.
Clear structure, short paragraphs, direct answers. That’s what works.
AI and algorithms are getting better at finding the best result, so just be the best result.
Building a Smart B2B Strategy
💬 From your experience, how do marketing and SEO actually transform a business?
When done right, they turn random traffic into real opportunities.
You stop chasing leads and start attracting the right people.
That changes everything—from how you sell to how you grow.
💬 What should B2B businesses know or clarify internally before hiring a marketing agency or specialist?
Know who you’re trying to reach. Have a clear offer.
And know what success looks like for you.
If you don’t know that, no agency can help you.
💬 You work with international clients. What do successful companies consistently do right in their digital marketing — and what common mistakes hold others back?
The successful ones communicate clearly. They give fast feedback. They see us as part of their team.
The ones who struggle are the ones who overthink everything or micromanage.
If you don’t trust your agency, why hire them?
💬 What marketing advice would you give to a company who just started its business in the B2B Industry?
Focus on building trust and credibility.
Share what you know. Show how you think.
Don’t copy others. And don’t try to scale before you’re consistent.
Talent, Remote Teams & Freelancers
💬 As a founder running a remote-first agency, what skills or qualities do you look for when hiring freelance marketers or SEO specialists?
First, values.
I need to know they’re honest, open, and willing to grow.
Then, depending on the role: for marketers: creativity and strategic thinking.
For SEO specialists: critical thinking and tech skills.
Across the board, we want people who can work in a team.
💬 What would you say to US and UK companies considering outsourcing their marketing or hiring remote talent from Europe and the Balkans?
You’ll find people who work hard, communicate directly, and bring different perspectives.
And you skip the long, expensive hiring process.
You get a team with experience across industries.
But for any of it to work, there has to be trust. That’s the foundation.
💬 How can freelancers and small marketing teams stay competitive when the market is flooded with automation and AI tools?
Use the tools to get better. Be faster. Sharper.
But don’t lose what makes you unique.
Show your thinking. Build relationships.
AI can do a lot, but it can’t replace a real human connection.
💬 For freelancers working with B2B clients — what do these clients expect from marketing talent today that’s different from five years ago?
Results. That hasn’t changed.
But the way you get there has.
Clients want people who don’t just execute tasks, but who can understand their business and contribute ideas.
If you’re just doing what you’re told, you’ll get replaced.
💬 What advice would you give to aspiring freelancers or junior marketers who want to specialize in B2B?
Don’t chase the money first: Learn.
Improve your skills. Be curious.
Show clients that you care about helping their business, not just your bank account.
People can tell when you’re in it for the wrong reasons.
The Future of Marketing Education
💬 From your perspective, should Marketing and SEO be taught in schools early on? And how should we improve what’s already being taught in colleges and academies?
There’s a lot that should be taught in schools: business, sales, communication, finance.
But the real problem is that most experts won’t teach in the traditional system.
That’s why I believe in informal education.
Courses, bootcamps, real-world projects.
Give people a choice and let them learn from people who’ve done it.
How to Connect and Work with Milan
💬 How and what type of companies or clients do you usually help, and how many people are on your Team? And how can someone get in touch with you?
We usually work with B2B SaaS companies doing over $2 million in revenue who want to grow through inbound leads but don’t have an in-house SEO team.
We’re 13 full-time people and 7 contractors. You can reach out to me on LinkedIn or through our Site.
